We are seeking to appoint a professional with drive, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching and learning to help us achieve excellence for our students. The post offers an outstanding opportunity for the right individual to make a positive difference in a strong, progressive and supportive department that is well resourced and very successful. Health and Social Care enjoys an enviable reputation with a strong uptake at Key Stage 5, with superb results at A Level and Level 2 BTEC over a number of years. The role also involves teaching OCR Cambridge National Child Development and the ability to teach another subject within Science is an advantage. The exact nature of the Science taught would be agreed at interview.
The person we are seeking will:
- be passionate about teaching Health and Social Care and Child Development and be able to bring energy, enthusiasm and new ideas;
- be an innovative and inspiring classroom teacher;
- be able to work collaboratively in a large and diverse team;
- have a desire to play a significant role in the further development of Health and Social Care and Child Development courses at the school.
Little Heath School is a highly successful comprehensive school (1610 on roll, including 320 in the Sixth Form) situated in a pleasant semi-rural setting to the west of Reading, with good access to road and rail links. As a school, we pride ourselves on our Continuing Professional Development Programme. Our CPD programme offers a choice of Teaching and Learning themes and staff are encouraged to become involved in leading training. Our personalised twilight programme follows an action research model. We encourage our teachers to engage with and share research and new ideas in education, as well as seeking out opportunities to showcase good practice and to collaborate with other members of staff in order to develop their practice.
